The Community Relations Unit works out of the office of the Chief of Police. The unit is responsible for outreach programs in the community which would include:
- Citizen's Police Academy
- "Behind the Badge" program on Channel 11
- Public relations media responsibility
- "CiPAAS"
- Volunteer opportunities
CiPAAS 
Citizens Police Academy Alumni of Scottsdale which is an organization of Citizen Police Academy graduates. The mission of the Scottsdale Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association is to work in partnership with the Police department and the residents of our community, to help provide a safe and secure environment where the quality of life may be enhanced through the delivery of police services. Their goal is to aid the department through programs designed to raise awareness through necessity, creativity, and innovation.
