On 06/05/12 at 11:30 am Scottsdale Fire and Police were called to the Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation center at 7507 E. Osborn due to employees complaining of dizziness and headaches from an odor emanating from within the building. Additional Fire Units from Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa, along with PMT responded and assisted in evacuating nearly 100 employees and clients from the center. The odor turned out to be carbon monoxide which was leaking from an underground pipe. Once the pipe was plugged the odor levels decreased to normal levels.
Most of those evacuated were checked nearby and released with no further medical attention needed. 16 individuals were taken to SHC Osborn as a precaution.
Osborn Road at Miller was closed for about 3 hours during the incident.
