The victim was walking along the sidewalk when she was approached by the suspect. She was carrying her purse in her hand when the suspect grabbed it from her and began running eastbound on the north sidewalk of 3rd Ave. The victim chased after the subject yelling for him to stop and that she was going to call the police, but the subject kept running. She saw the suspect get into a silver sedan. She approached the car and as it was fleeing the area, it brushed against her leg, knocking her down. A witness came to her assistance and helped her identify the plate on the suspect vehicle. Between the victim and witness, they accurately got the plate and reported it to police.
Officers responding to the area were not able to locate the suspect vehicle, however, a records check showed the vehicle registered to a Chandler address. With the assistance of Chandler PD, the suspect was located and arrested in Chandler. A search warrant served at his Chandler home uncovered the victim's purse, as well as stolen items from other crimes and drugs.
The suspect was booked into Scottsdale City jail on Robbery and related charges.
