The City of Scottsdale, Parks and Recreation Department has been approved for the 15 Year CAPRA accreditation (Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies). This prestigious status puts Scottsdale in a category with only 97 other cities in the entire United States - only 3 in Arizona!
The accreditation effort involves a formal application and self-assessment that evaluates an agency's processes in 10 major categories and 155 best practice standards covering every aspect of operations. There is also a formal site visitation from the national accreditation team where meeting these standards is documented. Some of the many positive comments from the sit evaluation team:
