Neighborhood Traffic Management Project - Granite Reef & 86th St.
The City of Scottsdale Transportation Department was been working with residents in two areas, Granite Reef Road from Osborn Road to Thomas Road and 86th Street from Earll Drive to Thomas Road, to address speeding and cut-through traffic concerns.
To date, two public meetings were held to discuss different speed control devices and the placement of those devices in each area. Meeting attendees worked together and agreed to proposed neighborhood traffic management plans that will improve the quality of life in each area.

The proposed plan for Granite Reef consists of two raised median islands north of Earll Drive, a raised speed table at Granite Reef Road and /Earll Drive, and two raised median islands south of Earll Drive.
The proposed plan for 86th Street includes two raised median islands to facilitate pedestrian crossings across 86th Street to the park. Through this neighborhood meeting process, it was requested that the city improve the pedestrian crossing environment between the neighborhood and Pima Park.
We are in the process of gathering neighborhood comments of this proposed plan to present to the Transportation Commission for approval on Thursday, March 19, 2009, 6 p.m. at City Hall Kiva, 3939 N. Drinkwater Boulevard.
