The Scottsdale Fire Department will offer CPAT workshops year-round.

CPAT testing is part of the fire fighter candidate hiring process. Therefore, open testing is not offered. Candidates must be invited to the test.
2. Who can take the CPAT workshop? Are there any prerequisites or requirements?
You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in a CPAT workshop. There are no other prerequisites or requirements.
3. Do I have to take a CPAT workshop before taking the test?
No, however, most candidates find the workshops helpful. Valuable training tips are covered in addition to what to expect on test day.
CPAT is being used by most but not all Valley fire departments. The Scottsdale Fire Department does not accept previous CPAT test results. Candidates must take the Scottsdale test when invited.
If you are invited to take Scottsdale Fire Department's CPAT test you will know the day of the exam if you passed. You will not receive a CPAT card or letter. The City of Scottsdale does not share its CPAT test results with other agencies.
Generally speaking, CPAT results are good for a maximum of 6 months. However, decisions about retest requirements will be made during each hiring process.
