Scottsdale city council selects public works director as acting city manager

Scottsdale city council selects public works director
as acting city manager
At a special meeting this evening, the Scottsdale City Council unanimously selected Dan Worth, Scottsdale’s public works executive director, to be acting city manager until a new city manager is recruited. The appointment was made with the condition that Worth will not pursue the position on a permanent basis.
“I am confident in Dan’s abilities to run the city as our acting city manager,” said Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane. “I look forward to working with him while the Council searches for a permanent replacement.”
Dan Worth has been Scottsdale’s public works executive director since November 2006, leading the city’s solid waste, street, fleet, and facilities operations in addition to capital project management.
“My priority will be to provide stability while our dedicated and professional city staff continue to provide top quality services to Scottsdale’s residents and visitors,” said Worth. “I am honored that the Mayor and City Council have entrusted me with leading the staff through this transition.”
Worth first came to the city in May of 2004 as the city engineer, responsible for administering the city’s $1 billion capital improvement program. Prior to that he served 22 years in the United States Army Corps of Engineers, where he was an officer in a variety of engineering and public works leadership positions.
