Brian Biesemeyer named new Scottsdale Water Resources executive director
Brian Biesemeyer has been named the city’s new executive director of Water Resources. His duties will oversee the day-to-day operations of water and sewer services, water quality, planning and engineering, finance and administration. He begins work on Dec. 3.
“Brian brings more than 15 years of experience in operating and maintaining water and sewer treatment systems and over 25 years of leadership experience in both military and civilian organizations. His vast knowledge, experience and passion will continue to ensure our community receives the safest and most reliable water and sewer service,” said Acting City Manager Dan Worth.
Biesemeyer was selected as the executive director after competing with more than 70 candidates from a nationwide recruitment.
Biesemeyer has been the deputy utilities director for the city of Peoria, AZ since 2007. Brian also worked for Arizona American Water (now EPCOR) in a similar position. He also managed the water and wastewater compliance programs for Luke AFB and has made numerous presentations to professional organizations on operational efficiencies and practices for utilities.

Brian Biesemeyer is a registered Professional Environmental Engineer, holds Masters Degrees from the University of Arizona in Civil Engineering and Mineral Economics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering. He is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel. He also holds Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Grade 4 Operator Certifications in Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection. Brian is a member of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Operator Certification Committee and a board member of WateReuse Arizona.
