April is Water Awareness Month in Scottsdale

Practicing a low water-use lifestyle is one way Scottsdale residents and businesses can save money and help ensure a long-term water supply. That’s the key message of Water Awareness Month (WAM), a statewide effort to remind Arizonans that the state’s most precious resource is also a limited one.

During April, the city of Scottsdale will join forces with other cities, water providers and conservation experts throughout Arizona to encourage residents to learn about water and water conservation.

The WAM website (www.waterawarenessmonth.com) is overflowing with ideas and activities that teach easy ways to conserve water and encourage appreciation of water in the desert. At the heart of WAM is a day-by-day calendar of water-related activities, events, tips, and resources.

Scottsdale also will provide water-saving tips and activities for the entire family throughout April on Facebook and Twitter.

Arizona’s first Water Awareness Month (WAM) was proclaimed in April 2008 by the Governor’s Office in order to help create a culture of conservation and reduce the impact of drought on our natural resources, economy, and quality of life. It was a call to create a greater awareness of water issues through community education, action and celebration.
