Scottsdale company expanding as a "green" oil leader

  Scottsdale company expanding as a ‘green’ oil leader

When one thinks of “green” industries, oil is not something that usually comes to mind. But a Scottsdale company is challenging that notion, and their growing business is evidence that an oil company can indeed be “green” – and successful.

North American Lubricants manufactures oil products for the automotive and machinery industries at contract facilities in California, Florida, Louisiana and Massachusetts. The company cites an increasing number of clients and accounts as the need for the larger office the company opened in Scottsdale on July 1.

The headquarters near Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard is home to the corporate and sales staff of about 20 employees and is expected to grow to more than 30 employees in the next two years.

“North American Lubricants has a great story to tell,” says Scottsdale Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane. “They are one of the fastest growing oil companies in the U.S., specializing in a field that, like used tires into pavement and fly ash into concrete, turns a potential problem – used oil – into a resource.  We are proud to have this “green” company call Scottsdale home.”

To better meet the needs of its growing client base in the western United States, the company recently announced plans to build a blending facility in Casa Grande that is expected to create 45 new jobs and generate $125 million in annual revenue.

Among the items that will be manufactured at the new facility is its flagship product – the eco-friendly “PureGreen” line of automotive lubricants that is refined to exacting quality standards from previously used motor oil.

“Our expansion in Scottsdale showcases that an oil company can be ‘green’ and that a company can expand, even in a down market,” says North American Lubricants President Andrew Bornstein. “We’re bringing additional jobs to Scottsdale and are moving forward with an additional state of the art production facility here in Arizona.”
