UPDATE: Final unofficial City of Scottsdale election results

Final unofficial election results released today, March 15, show that Scottsdale voters rejected an update to the city’s general plan while approving a Southwest Gas franchise agreement and seven city charter amendments.

Scottsdale Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane provided these comments on the election results:

“Scottsdale voters sent a clear message tonight that more work remains to be done on our General Plan. I am committed to working with our citizens and staff to address all of their concerns and draft a new General Plan that responds to those issues.  I want to thank all those who worked on the General Plan over the last two years and ask that they continue to be engaged on the subject as we proceed.

“As for the city charter amendments, I would like to thank the citizens for passing these important reforms to our city charter that will further improve the transparency and accountability of Scottsdale city government. I also want to thank the members of the charter review task force and for all those that participated in the process. Their hard work and dedication to improving Scottsdale will have a lasting impact on the operation, communication and the relationship of the city with our citizens.”
