Public invited to Thursday’s dedication of playground plaque
Scottsdale’s McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park recently installed a new playground with help from a grant from the Fiesta Bowl.
That partnership will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 31, when a plaque is dedicated at the park, located at 7301 E. Indian Bend Road. The plaque recognizes a $15,000 contribution from the Fiesta Bowl that assisted the city and the Scottsdale Railroad and Mechanical Society in constructing the playground.
The grant was requested by the Scottsdale Railroad and Mechanical Society, a nonprofit civic support organization responsible for the acquisition of nearly all the park’s amenities.
The playground is located in the northwest portion of the park and is designed for children ages two to 12 years old. The Railroad Park is one of Scottsdale’s most popular recreation sites and features miniature train and carousel rides, picnic areas, free summer concerts and a model railroad museum.
