Traffic Restrictions Update

The following is a partial list of road construction projects and traffic restrictions taking place in Scottsdale May 17-26. For more information, contact Holly Walter at hwalter@ScottsdaleAZ.gov.

PATH CLOSURE OF INDIAN BEND WASH

A portion of the Indian Bend Wash Path will be closed west of Hayden between Camelback and Chaparral beginning May 13. Construction is estimated to be complete by the end of June. This project will address flooding issues in that section after storm events. To avoid this closure, path users may access an alternate route from either Camelback or Chaparral.

SCOTTSDALE/PINNACLE PEAK ROADS

  • Traffic on Pinnacle Peak Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Scottsdale Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. May 23-24 to accomodate a traffic switch. Traffic will be on the west side of the road, on the bridge.           
  • Silverstone Drive is fully closed at Scottsdale Road until approximately Sept. 2013. The Appaloosa Library and Vi at Silverstone will be accessible via alternative routes. Use 74th Street to Pinnacle Peak or Williams Drive as alternates. Please observe the 35 mph speed limit in this area.

FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT BOULEVARD

Northbound traffic on 76th Street will be shifted to the center turn lane immediately south of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard as asphalt and concrete work takes place. The eastbound curb lane on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed at 76th Street. Left lanes in both directions on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed at 78th Street. No left turns will be permitted at 78th Street. Northbound traffic on 78th Street must turn right at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard. No left turns will be permitted. 

Lane restrictions will take place on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard at 82nd Street May 20 – June 28 as asphalt and concrete work takes place. 

Lane restrictions will take place on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard at Sweetwater Avenue June 17 – July 19 asphalt and concrete work takes place. No left turns will be permitted at Sweetwater Avenue. 

82nd Street will be fully closed to thru traffic from immediately south of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to Paradise Lane early June as gutter installation and asphalt work takes place. Use Greenway-Hayden to Paradise Lane as an alternative.

Access from Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to 78th Street is available by taking 76th Street to Paradise Drive to 78th Street.
 

64TH STREET/THOMAS TO INDIAN SCHOOL ROADS

  • The westbound curb lane on Thomas Road will be closed at 64th Street 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. through May 31 as ADA ramps and sidewalk panel replacement occurs. During those same dates and times:
    • The northbound curb lane on 64th Street will be closed from Osborn to Indian School roads.
    • The eastbound curb lane on Indian School Road will be closed at 64th Street.

HAYDEN ROAD/NORTHSIGHT BOULEVARD

  • The eastbound curb lane on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed from immediately west of Northsight Boulevard to west of Hayden Road 5 a.m. – 3 p.m. May 20 – June 6 for utility work. During those same dates and times, the eastbound right turn only lane on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed at Hayden Road.
  • The eastbound curblane on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed from Northsight Boulevard to Hayden Road 6 a.m. - 4 p.m. weekdays through May 31.

92ND STREET AREA

  • Cholla Street will be fully closed to thru traffic at 91st Street from Monday through June 28 to permit waterline construction. During those same dates, Traffic on 92nd Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the east side of the road from immediately north of Shea Boulevard to north of Poinsettia Drive. 

  • 92nd Street will be reduced to one lane in both directions from immediately north of Shea Boulevard to north of Poinsettia until approximately June 2013.
  • Poinsettia Drive will be fully closed to through traffic from 94th Way to immediately west of 95th Street through early June to permit a box culvert replacement.

136th STREET CLOSURE

  • Northbound 136th Street will be fully closed from Rio Verde Drive to Lone Mountain Road through May 24 for intersection improvements. During those same dates, shoulder work will occur on both sides of the roadway on 136th Street at Rio Verde Drive. Suggested detours:
    • From Rio Verde Drive: Use 144th Street to Lone Mountain Road; travel west to 136th Street.
    • From Lone Mountain Road: Use Lone Mountain Road to 144th Street; travel south to Rio Verde Drive

 NEW UTILITY AND STREET WORK THROUGHOUT THE CITY

  • Scottsdale Healthcare Drive will be fully closed from immediately east of 73rd Street to north of Thompson Peak Parkway through May 24 as crosswalk construction takes place. During this time, the bus stop at 73rd Place will be relocated to the northwest corner of 73rd Street and Thompson Peak Parkway 

  • The eastbound curb left lane on Cactus Road will be closed from immediately east of the Loop 101 to 89th Street 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. weekdays through May 31 for manhole work. 

  • The northbound curb lane on Scottsdale Road will be closed from immediately north of Shea Boulevard to Mescal Street 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays through Friday, May 24 for trench work. 

  • The westbound curb lane on Cactus Road will be closed from 89th to 87th streets 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekdays May 20-31 for utility work. 

  • Traffic in both directions on Indian Bend Road will be reduced to one lane and shifted to the north side of the road May 21-22 as slurry sealing takes place. No left turns on Indian Bend Road will be permitted at Pima Road. 

  • Traffic on 136th Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Via Linda 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays May 20-24 for utility work. 

  • Traffic on Granite Reef Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction immediately south of McDonald Drive 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays May 20 – June 3 as trench work takes place. 

  • The westbound curb lane on Camelback Road will be closed at 64th Street 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. May 20-21 to allow for concrete work. 

  • The southbound curb lane on 64th Street will be closed at Osborn Road 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays through May 29 for sidewalk and ramp construction. 

  • The westbound curb lane on Via Linda will be closed at 128th Street 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. weekdays through May 24 for utility work. 

  • The left lanes in both directions on Cactus Road will be closed at 85th Street 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. through May 24 for trench work. During those same dates and times, the westbound curb lane on Cactus Road will be closed at 85th Street. 

  • Lane restrictions on Greenway-Hayden Loop will take place from Scottsdale Road to 73rd Street 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. through May 24 for utility work. 

  • The westbound curb lane on Bell Road will be closed in short segments from 94th to 90th streets 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays through June 9 as trench work takes place.

CONTINUING UTILITY AND STREET WORK THROUGHOUT THE CITY

  • The westbound curb lane on Indian School Road will be closed intermittently at 64th Street 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through mid May 2013 for construction access to the canal. During the same time, the southbound curb lane on 68th Street will be closed intermittently immediately north of Indian School Road. 

  • The curb lane in both directions on Dynamite Boulevard will be closed in short segments from Pima to Alma School roads through May 24 for shoulder work and bike lane construction. 

  • The southbound curb lane on Goldwater Boulevard will be closed immediately south of Chaparral Road through June 7 to allow construction and hauling work. 

  • Lane restrictions will take place on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard at 82nd Street May 20 – June 28 as asphalt and concrete work takes place. 

  • Lane restrictions will take place on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard at Sweetwater Avenue June 17 – July 19 asphalt and concrete work takes place. No left turns will be permitted at Sweetwater Avenue. 

  • 82nd Street will be fully closed to thru traffic from immediately south of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to Paradise Lane June 3-7 as gutter installation and asphalt work takes place. Use Greenway-Hayden to Paradise Lane as an alternative. 

  • The westbound curb lane on Via Linda will be closed from 124th Street to the Arizona Canal 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays through May 24 for utility work. During those same dates and times, the eastbound curb lane on Via Linda will be closed at 124th Street. 

  • Traffic on 98th Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the east side of the road from immediately south of Bell Road to north of Paradise Lane weekdays through May 22 for water and sewer work. 

  • The westbound curb lane on Cactus Road will be closed from 84th to 90th streets 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through May 24 for utility work.
