Green Building: Codes, Standards and Rating Systems

This course (BLT142) is being offered Fall semester at Scottsdale Community College for three credit hours.Subject
In depth review and discussion of the new International Green Construction Code, ASHRAE 189.1 Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings, Green Building Assessment Protocol (ANSI/GBI01-2010), National Green Building Standard (ICC 700), LEED, Green Globes and a number of local/regional green building rating systems. The class will address codes and standards in the broader context of public health, safety and general welfare. It will examine site development and land use, material resource conservation, energy efficiency, water resource conservation, indoor environmental quality, building commissioning, operations, and maintenance. The class will include hands-on applications, exercises and tools for effectively applying green codes, standards and rating systems on residential and commercial projects. 6:00 PM - 8:45 PM in the Applied Sciences Building, Room 290 (AP 290) at Scottsdale Community College.
