Project Summary

This project will make a number of upgrades to a one-mile segment of Pima Road between Happy Valley Road and Jomax Road and improve the intersection of Pima and Jomax roads to a full signalized intersection. The project will also include drainage infrastructure to eliminate wet crossings. During storm events.

Project Overview

The project will also include:

  • Reprofiling and reconstructing Pima Road
  • Landscaped medians
  • Bike lanes
  • Sidewalks and trails
  • Drainage Improvements
  • The HAWK crossing at Jomax Road will be improved to a fully signalized intersection
  • Capacity, safety and accessibility improvements for motorist, bicyclist and pedestrians
The Pima Road project limits are defined as Pima Road from Hackamore Drive to approximately 1000-feet north of Jomax Road.

Project History

This project is part of the Transportation Action Plan (TAP) which was approved by the Transportation Commission and adopted by City Council in 2022.  This project was included in the public-outreach process for the TAP and previous Transportation Master Plans (2008 and 2016). The project was also included in the publicity pamphlet prepared in advance of a Citywide temporary 0.1% transportation sales tax election that was passed by voters in November 2018.
