Important Safety Information
Avian influenza was detected in geese at Chaparral Park the week of Dec. 16. The Arizona Game and Fish Department wants the public to keep these points in mind should you come across an affected bird: Birds with avian influenza are not considered a health risk for people under normal circumstances. Report cases of sick wild birds by calling the Arizona Game and Fish Department at 623-236-7201.
For more information, visit Game & Fish’s wildlife health page, or contact the Arizona Department of Agriculture at 602-542-4293 to report cases of sick domestic birds (for example: chickens, ducks, etc.). Wear gloves when handling any dead birds.
