If you received a Notice of Parking Violation you are required to respond to the notice within thirty (30) calendar days of its issuance.  Within the first 30 days the violation is handled by the Remittance Processing Division, not the Court.  The Court will receive the violation after 30 days if not addressed or if a hearing is requested.

Within the first 30 days

You must respond to the notice within 30 days by submitting a payment in full or requesting a hearing.  If you have questions, within the first 30 days contact Remittance Processing. The fine amount is lower if paid or a hearing is requested before the violation is transferred to the Court. The fine can be paid online, by mail or in person.  A hearing can be requested by email, mail or in person.  Signatures are required on all email and mail correspondence.  You must include full name, address, phone number and complaint number.  You may respond in the following ways:

After the first 30 days or a hearing is requested

The parking violation will be transferred to the Court.  The amount due on the fine may increase. View Complete List of Parking Violations and Fines.

If you fail to respond to the Notice of Violation within thirty (30) calendar days the following will occur:

  • A Complaint and Summons will be issued by Scottsdale Police Department to the registered owner of the vehicle. The Summons shall command the registered owner to appear in City Court by a specified date and time.
  • If the registered owner fails to respond to the Summons by the arraignment date, a Default Judgment will be entered with additional State and City imposed time payment and default fees. In addition, your case will be referred to a collection agency and collection fees assessed. See the Civil Traffic Cases page for more information on default judgment.

If you request a hearing:

  • If requested prior to being transferred to the Court, the fine will not increase.
  • A Complaint and Hearing Notice will be issued to the registered owner of the vehicle. The Summons shall command the registered owner to appear in City Court by a specified date and time.

Important Advisory

Any person who commits a parking violation after previously having been found responsible for three (3) or more parking violations within a three (3) year period, whether by default or by judgment after hearing, and who has not paid the civil sanctions required by the court for those offenses (underlying offenses) shall be guilty of a class 3 misdemeanor per S.R.C. § 17-128.
