Work to improve drainage on Craftsman Ct. and restore the alley surface between the Kiva Center and the Rock Bar will begin in early May. Construction is scheduled in two phases:

Phase 1 - Sidewalk, curb, and gutter modifications to improve drainage in the area.

  • Work will begin on May 6 and will take about a week to complete.
  • During construction sidewalks will be closed and pedestrian detours will be in place.
  • Business access will be maintained throughout the project.
  • A limited number of parking spaces on Craftsman Ct., near to the alley, will be closed during the project. This area will be used to store construction equipment and materials.

Phase 2 - Pavement restoration in the alley between the Kiva Center and the Rock Bar will refurbish the asphalt surface and provide better drainage in the alleyway.

  • Work will begin on May 13 and will take about a week to complete
  • The alley will be closed during construction.
  • The project area will extend into the Craftsman Ct. alley and will restrict vehicle and pedestrian traffic during construction
  • Please let your vendors know that the Craftsman Ct. alley will be closed to large vehicles the week of May 13 and make other arrangements to accept deliveries
  • Let your employees and customers know that pedestrian access to the alley from the 3rd Avenue parking garage will be closed during construction.

Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, weekend work will be scheduled if needed. For up-to-date information about the project, check this page.

We understand that there is never a good time to close sidewalks or alleyways and have tried to minimize the impact of this project by scheduling the work outside of Scottsdale's busy tourist and event season. We appreciate your assistance planning for and during construction. Please contact Ed Padron, Street Operations Manager with any questions or for additional information.
