Scottsdale earns 2025 CIO 100 Award for its Short-Term Rental Resource Center
The city of Scottsdale has been recognized as a 2025 CIO 100 Award winner for its short-term rental map tool and resource center.
Scottsdale’s Short-Term Rental Resource Center integrates advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies to address community concerns regarding the rapid growth of short-term rentals (STRs) and encourage citizen engagement.
"Receiving the CIO 100 Award reflects our team's unwavering dedication to innovation, cross-departmental collaboration and exceptional service delivery," stated Bianca Lochner, Scottsdale's chief information officer and CIO 100 Hall of Fame Honoree. “Our strategic use of AI and machine learning not only addressed immediate compliance challenges but also established a forward-looking standard for future technological advancements within the public sector.”
By leveraging geospatial analytics and real-time data integration, the platform identifies STR properties, assesses their compliance status and facilitates communication between residents and property owners. As a result, the city has significantly increased compliance accuracy, streamlined enforcement processes and enhanced transparency for residents. The initiative has also reduced operational costs and positions the city at the forefront of digital transformation.
Elizabeth Cutler, content director for the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards, highlighted the competitive nature and significance of the award: "The CIO 100 Awards celebrate visionary IT leaders who drive transformation and achieve measurable business outcomes through technology. Scottsdale’s initiative exemplifies the groundbreaking impact and strategic excellence we recognize and celebrate."
Scottsdale will formally receive the award alongside other industry-leading organizations at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards ceremony in August. Detailed coverage of the award-winning projects will be featured at www.cio.com.
