A crack fill and micro seal project is scheduled on Scottsdale Road between Indian Bend Road and Gold Dust Ave. May 13 - June 10. Crews will be working overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday - Friday. Weekend work will be scheduled if needed. One travel lane, in each direction, will remain open during construction. Business access will be maintained throughout the project.

Residents should expect to see crews working along the roadway in two phases: a crack fill treatment followed by a micro seal application. A crack fill treatment is often a pre-treatment to a micro seal application. The micro seal coating helps extend the life of the asphalt and reduces maintenance costs. Additional benefits include a smoother and safer ride and enhanced curb appeal. The finished roadway will be striped in the existing configuration of three travel lanes north and southbound; existing left and right turn bays will be maintained.

This work is part of the city's pavement preservation program, which enhances deteriorated pavement on streets and alleyways in Scottsdale. Please use caution when traveling near the work area, follow detour signs, and plan ahead to avoid delays. Please call the project hotline with any questions, 480-532-5588.

Project Work Hours

Note: All paving projects are reviewed by the Transportation and Streets Department to determine if changes are needed to the roadway as part of the city's five-year paving plan. When a roadway is repaved, the striping pattern is obliterated making this a cost-effective time to evaluate the existing striping plan for needed modifications. For more than 20 years, the application of new paving material has initiated a review of existing and forecasted traffic volumes and travel patterns on city streets to determine if changes are needed.

Most city streets are restriped in their existing or pre-pavement application configuration. Road restriping, when warranted, may include removing travel lanes, reducing travel lane widths, adding vehicle turn lanes, adding on-street parking, and incorporating bicycle lanes. Paving projects that include lane reductions are subject to additional community outreach and City Council notification. This roadway evaluation process has been used for decades and has proven to be a successful tool for meeting the goals and objectives in the city's General Plan and Transportation Action Plan.
