Scottsdale Update - April 7, 2025
HEADLINE NEWS
At their Tuesday, April 8, meeting, the Scottsdale City Council will consider a motion to direct that a roundabout currently planned for the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Dynamite Boulevard be redesigned and built as a traditional signalized intersection. A full City Council report is available here discussing the consideration in detail; key financial and other elements are summarized below.
- Federal transportation dollars via the regional Arterial Life Cycle Program are the majority of this project’s current funding.
- Staff have determined how federal funds could be replaced so the project can continue even if redesigned.
- This reallocation would fund this project solely with Maricopa County regional transportation dollars and city of Scottsdale funds; the project could then move forward with the modified design and not be subject to federal requirements.

City crews will apply a micro seal paving treatment in sections of Old Town this week as part of its Pavement Preservation program. Work will take place overnight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. April 7-9, on Marshall Way (Indian School Road to 3rd Avenue) and 6th Avenue (Scottsdale Road to Stetson Drive). These areas will be closed during construction.
Area businesses are asked to inform employees, customers and vendors about this week’s closures.
Micro seal treatments help extend the life of asphalt streets and reduces maintenance costs. The city’s proactive Pavement Preservation program also includes street sweeping and ADA ramp construction. Work is funded by Scottsdale’s 0.20% Transportation Sales Tax.
Plan ahead, follow detours and get ready for a better Old Town experience. Questions? Call the project hotline at 623-582-1919.

Share your feedback on Scottsdale’s Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan (CONPlan) helps states and local jurisdictions assess their affordable housing and community development needs and market conditions – while making data-driven, place-based investment decisions.
The five-year plan outlines the city’s strategic vision for use of federal fuds to address housing, community development and economic needs, with a focus on benefiting low and moderate-income residents.
Residents identified their top needs regarding housing services and facilities last summer, and a draft of the plan has been developed. Seeking resident comments is an important step to ensure priorities are made in addressing Scottsdale’s housing and community needs. Feedback is being collected through Tuesday, April 22. Visit our Speak up Scottsdale page for more information and to complete the questionnaire.
