A Scottsdale sales tax question on the Nov. 5 General Election ballot - Prop. 490 - is moving forward after a legal challenge was dismissed in court. 

If approved, Prop. 490 would replace and reduce an expiring 0.20% city sales tax rate with a 0.15% sales tax rate to provide funds solely for capital replacements and improvements at city parks and recreational facilities and additional maintenance, preservation and protection, including police and fire protection, of city parks and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. This tax rate would expire after 30 years. If Prop. 490 is not approved, then the 0.20% city sales tax rate will expire.
