WM Phoenix Open DUI Task Force

Get a ride. Not a DUI! The Scottsdale Police Department is teaming up with other local law enforcement for a DUI Task Force and Saturation Patrol during the WM Phoenix Open, Feb. 6 - 8, as part of its continual efforts to enhance traffic safety in the community.

In collaboration with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Arizona Department of Transportation and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Scottsdale Police Department is working with Apache Junction PD, Chandler PD, Gilbert PD, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Mesa PD, Phoenix PD and Salt River PD to conduct education and enforcement during the 2025 Waste Management Phoenix Open. The purpose of the Task Force is to contact those drivers who have made the disastrous decision to drive impaired and remove them from the roadway before they hurt others or themselves.

For education purposes, agencies will be participating in the Know Your Limit educational outreach, which will take place in the afternoons from Thursday, February 6, through Saturday, February 8, near the main entrance to the event. Following the event, the participating agencies will transition into enforcement and participate in the DUI Task Force.

Impaired driving is dangerous, and the consequences can be tragic. The good news is that it is entirely preventable, and getting a safe ride saves lives. If people plan on consuming alcoholic beverages or using recreational marijuana, they should also plan ahead for a sober ride home, so they don't drive impaired.
