Police Citizens Academy

Overview

The Scottsdale Police Citizens Academy is a ten-week program designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the operations of the Police Department. Through this program, attendees gain valuable insight into departmental functions, procedures, and community policing efforts.

The curriculum features presentations from various divisions, including the Training Unit, Crime Laboratory, Real-Time Crime Center, Communications, Detention, and School Resource Officers. Participants will also observe demonstrations from specialized units, such as K-9, Mounted Unit and Motor Officers.

The Academy is open to Scottsdale residents, Scottsdale business owners and employees, as well as City of Scottsdale staff. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to participate.

Citizens Academy sessions are offered twice annually, beginning in February/March and August. Classes are held every Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions to fully benefit from the program.
