Scottsdale City Council approves Parks and Recreation Master Plan 2024, a dynamic roadmap for the future of the city’s parks, community spaces and programs over the next decade. This plan reflects Scottsdale’s commitment to enhancing residents' quality of life by aligning with citywide goals and incorporating extensive community input. 

After nearly two years of planning, including over 312,000 resident interactions, the plan will guide key improvements in Scottsdale's park system, promote wellness, and support sustainable growth. For more details, visit ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “parks”.

THINGS TO DO

Scottsdazzle, the city’s monthlong winter celebration ends soon - here are just a few of the remaining events and activities happening this month:

Peppermint Plaza. Enjoy a night of peppermint-themed cocktails, promotions and more! The bars and clubs in the Entertainment District will be creating some tasty concoctions to add a dash of spice to your night. Solve one of Old Town Scottsdale’s holiday-themed riddles for a chance to win one of four gift cards. 

  • 9-11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Dec. 31 at the Entertainment District, 7340 E. Indian Plaza

Scottsdazzle Show Stopper Shake. Gather with friends at ZuZu and indulge over a Scottsdale favorite, the iconic Hotel Valley Ho "Show Stopper" Shake. It’s an over-the-top delight with house-made ingredients piled on top, and featured this holiday season will be the Scottsdazzle Shake. $1 of each shake sold will be donated to the Scottsdale nonprofit, STARS

  • 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at Hotel Valley Ho, 6850 E. Main St.
  • Cost is $20 per shake

Public Menorah Lighting. Join Chabad of South Scottsdale for a family-friendly evening celebrating Hanukkah.

  • 4:30-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29 at Soleri Plaza, 4420 N. Scottsdale Road

Recycle your Christmas tree at these drop off locations, Dec. 27 – Jan. 10. Yellow collection bins will be available at the following city parks: 

  • Cactus Park, 7202 E. Cactus Road 
  • Chaparral Park, 5401 N. Hayden Road 
  • Eldorado Park, 2301 N. Miller Road 
  • Horizon Park, 15444 N. 100th St. 
  • Scottsdale Ranch Park, 10400 E. Via Linda 
  • Scottsdale Sports Complex, 8081 E. Princess Drive 
  • Thompson Peak Park, 20199 N. 78th Place

Only natural, untreated Christmas trees and wreaths without wires can be composted. Artificial trees, stands and ornaments aren’t accepted. Single-family home residents can place Christmas trees in their green waste pile, separate from bulk trash, during their brush/bulk service week. Scottsdale’s Neighborhood Advisory Commission wants to showcase those who embody the “Spirit of Scottsdale.” This yearly award program recognizes residents and organizations/businesses that help to strengthen and build Scottsdale’s community through their commitment to and involvement in neighborhoods. Do not wait – nominations will only be accepted through Dec. 31. Submit Spirit of Scottsdale Nomination
