Scottsdale Update – Nov. 12, 2024
Headline News
Find places of honor on the Scottsdale Veterans Trail. As a town founded by wounded Civil War veteran Major Winfield Scott, Scottsdale has been continuously inspired to honor its serving military and veterans, past and present, especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The Scottsdale Veterans Trail is a new online story map that allows you to visit many places in the Scottsdale area where you can experience, appreciate and honor the incredible legacy of our uniformed service members throughout history.
Canal Convergence lights up Scottsdale Waterfront through Nov. 17. This year’s theme at Canal Convergence, “Reflections,” invites visitors to explore large-scale, light-based artworks that inspire introspection and dialogue. The event is held entirely outdoors along the Scottsdale Waterfront and along with awe-inspiring art, features family-friendly activities, educational workshops, art and history tours, live music, dance performances, a Mini Film Festival and more.
Miller Road Bridge is open. A new bridge over the Rawhide Wash has connected Miller Road between Pinnacle Peak Road and Happy Valley Road. The new segment of roadway includes two lanes of travel in each direction, bike lanes, and detached sidewalks with landscaped buffers on either side of the street.
The bridge was designed to be as low profile as possible to fit into its neighborhood setting and maintain view corridors. Completing this connection has created a new option for north/south travel and a direct connection to the Hayden Road/Loop 101 interchange.
The $20.4 million project was funded by the Transportation Sales Tax 0.1% and Arterial Life Cycle Program (ALCP) Regional Sales Tax.
