Maryann McAllen began her first term on the Scottsdale City Council in January 2025.
Councilwoman McAllen was raised and has lived in Scottsdale for 60 years. Becoming a City Councilwoman has been a lifelong goal for McAllen. As a Supai Elementary School student she aspired to one day serve her community in this capacity and is now fulfilling that dream.
She attended Coronado High School, where she was student body president, and now serves as the President of the Coronado Foundation for the Future, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit foundation that funds scholarships to Coronado students.
She attended Arizona State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and Non-profit Studies.
While in college, she worked part time for the city of Scottsdale as a recreation leader. Upon graduating, she began a 14-year career serving the citizens of Scottsdale in both the Recreation and Human Services departments.
While working for the city of Scottsdale she met her husband Sam and has been married for 32 years. Maryann and Sam raised their four children here in Scottsdale.
Councilwoman McAllen has served in numerous civic leadership positions, and has volunteered for decades in Scottsdale including the Scottsdale Unified School District, St. Maria Goretti Parish, many non-profit organizations, is a graduate of both Scottdale Leadership and Arizona State University’s Advanced Public Executives Program (APEP), a Founding Member of the Women’s Collective, and is the past Chair of the Scottsdale Parks and Recreation Commission. She is also a proud small business owner in Scottsdale.
